Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about The Ocean Culture: what we cover, how to use our ferry, cruise and yacht guides, and how to get in touch with our team.

About The Ocean Culture

Who we are and what you’ll find here.

01What is The Ocean Culture?

The Ocean Culture is an independent sea-travel blog. We write about ferries, cruises, yachts, ships and boats of every kind, from what a long ferry crossing is actually like to the history of famous vessels and the differences between cruise ship classes.

02What topics do you cover?

We cover five main areas: Ferries (routes, tickets and how ferry systems work), Cruises (ship guides and onboard tips), Yachts (types, costs and famous superyachts), Ships (history and design) and Boats (boat tours, river cruises and day trips).

03Are you affiliated with any cruise line or ferry operator?

No. The Ocean Culture is an independent information platform. We don’t claim ownership of, or official affiliation with, any ship, ferry, cruise line, yacht brand or company mentioned on the site.

04Do I need to be an expert to enjoy the blog?

Not at all. We write for anyone curious about the water. You don’t need to be an expert, and you don’t need to be planning a trip, to find something useful here.

Planning & Accuracy

How to use our guides when you plan a trip.

05Do you sell ferry or cruise tickets?

No. We don’t sell tickets, cruises or charters. Our guides explain routes, schedules, prices and what to expect so you can plan, and we always recommend booking directly with the operator or an authorized agent.

06How accurate are the schedules and ticket prices in your guides?

We research every guide using the operator’s own published information and other public sources. Ferry and cruise schedules, fares and rules change by season, so please confirm the latest details with the operator before you travel.

07Are your reviews independent?

Yes. Our reviews are based on our own research. Some pages contain affiliate links, which means we may earn a small commission if you book through them, at no extra cost to you. You can read more in our Disclaimer.
