About Us

Welcome to The Ocean Culture

A blog for people who can’t stay away from anything that floats. We write about ships, ferries, yachts, cruises and boats of every kind.

Sometimes that means breaking down what it’s actually like to take a long ferry crossing. Sometimes it means digging into the history of a famous old ship, explaining the difference between cruise ship classes, or just talking about why boats have fascinated people for as long as we’ve had oceans to cross.

What We Cover

Whether you’re planning a crossing, comparing cruise lines or just love a good ship story, there’s a corner of the site for you.

Our goal with every article

Write about the sea and everything that sails on it, as clearly and honestly as we can.

Why This Blog Exists

There’s a lot of surface-level content about life on the water, and not a lot that actually goes into detail.

Detail over surface level

We wanted a space to write the kind of articles we’d want to read ourselves: ones that explain things properly.

Honest, not salesy

Our articles don’t talk down to the reader, and they don’t exist just to sell you something.

Why The Ocean Culture

What you can expect every time you read one of our guides.

Clear, practical writing

Plain-language guides to routes, schedules, tickets and ships, without jargon.

Built around the water

Ferries, cruises, yachts, ships and boats are all we write about.

Explained properly

From cruise ship classes to ferry systems, we take the time to explain how things work.

Reader-first

Every guide is written for the person reading it, not for an advertiser.

Who we’re writing for

Anyone curious about the water. You don’t need to be an expert, and you don’t need to be planning a trip. If you like ships, boats or the ocean in general, this blog is for you.

Join us on the water

We’re still growing this space, one article at a time, and we’re glad to have you reading along. Got a question, a story idea or a correction? We’d love to hear from you.
